Watch Out!: Jesus Over Fear Series, Luke 12:15

Coronavirus, You and Jesus

Day 3- “Watch Out!” for…

“Watch out!” Jesus gives an emphatic warning as he teaches his disciples on the way to Jerusalem.

Watch out for what, Jesus?

Watch out for those who might harm you, for lack, for illness?

No. Let’s read the verse.

“Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”” (Luke 12:15, NIV)

Greed sneaks up on us when we make our life about having an abundance of possessions. It underlies hoarding and lack of giving when you feel stretched.

Lord, please guard us against acting as if our life is about an abundance of possessions. Forgive us, Father, for acting our things were ours to make decisions about without your guidance through prayer. You are our Almighty Creator and provider. You own the cattle on 10 thousand hills. Give us generous spirits and open hands as we seek to glorify you in difficult times. Amen.

Read, pray and then meditate on this word throughout the day.
